1% Kojic Acid + 2% Tranexamic Acid 

This a jam packed serum with almost every ingredient used for brightening but stays vitamin c free so it’s a great option for sensitive skin! To discuss the different ingredients here, let’s look at a very simplified melanin production process. This usually starts off with a a trigger (ex. uv exposure, hormonal changes, picking acne) that prompts tyrosinase (an enzyme) to ‘call upon’ melanin (our body’s natural pigment) which we eventually see as pigmentation. Kojic Acid is a tyrosinase inhibitor, so it directly interferes with melanin production where it is applied. Tranexamic Acid on the other hand also helps by reducing the inflammatory signal (trigger) that prompts tyrosinase. Together, the two ingredients effectively reduce general hyperpigmentation, surface-level, mild sun damage, sun spots, dark marks leaving the skin brighter and even-toned. 

What’s the point of being Vitamin C-Free?

Well it’s not completely Vitamin C free, it does have ascorbyl glucoside  - which is a derivative of Vitamin C. There are many who would love to use Vitamin C as it’s incredibly well known for hyperpigmentation but just can’t handle it! This formula opts for a derivative (better for sensitive skin) and other powerful substitutes - Kojic Acid and Tranexamic Acid instead so it can be tolerated by all. 

10% Niacinamide + Peptide Complex 

There are a lot of other goodies in this formula that we need to address! The Peptide Complex (Hexapeptide-9, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4, Palmitoyl Tripeptide-1, Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7, Acetyl Hexapeptide-8, Nonapeptide-1) and Vitamin C derivative both aid in firming the skin and boosting collagen, making this a great anti-aging formula too! The high concentration of niacinamide also balances the skins oil production (less oil!) and strengthens the skin’s barrier. In time, you will expect to see firmer, brighter and healthier skin!
